I knew Coley, not well, but I had a fair amount of contact with him. He went to St. John's College High in Washington, DC, and, for some reason, a load of St. John's guys were assigned to Farley, my freshman year dorm--Bill Kennealy who was a stalwart on the rugby team, Brian Keller who was on a basketball scholarship, and Paul May, a scholarship football player. Among my classmates, Paul was one of my best friends. There was another guy, Jack Something-or-Other, who flunked out.

When Coley showed up a year later, my St. John's alum classmates introduced me to him. Once I talked to him about the Game of the Century, in particular, about some of the MSU players. He said George Webster was terrifying. About Bubba: Coley ended up at the bottom of the pile a few times during the game. On the occasions when Bubba was on top of him, Bubba hocked a big oyster and spit in his face right through the facemask.
