That's a crock. SEC champs rarely played 11 P5 teams. This by Domerduck

year was an exception when Bama played 10 SEC conference games because of the Pandemic before beating Florida in the championship. Previous years only 2017 Georgia had played 11 when it played ND & Ga Tech before beating Auburn in the championship. Prior to Bama winning this year, only Clemson had played 11 P5 schools before winning their championships. LSU, tOSU, & 2015 Bama played only 10 and 2017 Bama played only 9!

As for being competitive by playing 11 P5 schools, the only other multiple playoff attendee (other than the 3 who've won championships and ND) is Oklahoma who usually plays 11 P5 games and has never won the semifinal game. On the other hand only two times tOSU has played 11 or more P5 games and those years they didn't make the playoffs (2018 & 2019). In fact in 2018 we made it over a 12-1 tOSU Big10 champ who played 12 P5 teams! ND only played 10 P5 schools that year. When you consider the PAC12 teams routinely play 10 P5 schools before any PAC12 championship game hardly ever make the playoffs (only twice), it's hard to believe playing 11 P5 helps.
