Worst example in '21 class - recruiting of DE Dallas Turner by Hickster

Dallas Turner, the #1 WDE #8 overall recruit from St. Thomas Aquinas in Ft. Lauderdale, FL committed to Alabama, one month after ND was the last school to give him an offer. Turner would probably have committed to Alabama no matter if ND was involved earlier, but you cannot get a hit, if you do not get an at-bat. He was eventually offered by both Northwestern and Stanford, so qualifications to get into ND wasn't an issue and ND should have been all over this recruit from a catholic school early in the process - can't blame RKG issues and shopping in a difference aisle.

However, the below timelines of schools offering Turner (along with his overall recruiting rank), demonstrates ND's lack of genuine effort in vigorously pursuing elite recruits that are eligible to be recruited by ND - ND never made a real effort.

Month/Year School Offers and/or Overall Ranking

Feb '18 LSU
Mar '18 Miami
Jan '19 Tennessee
Mar '19 Florida
Jul '19 Ranked # 84
Oct '19 Ranked 197
Nov '19 Ranked 257
Nov '19 FSU - Georgia
Dec '19 ALABAMA - Penn St.
Jan '20 NORTHWESTERN (if NW offers flairs should be going off - he can qualify for ND, but ND should have been aware of this previously).
Jan '20 UNC - MICHIGAN - Texas A&M - OHIO ST.
Feb '20 Ranked 165
Mar '20 Oklahoma
Apr '20 STANFORD (Rockets should go off) - Clemson
Apr '20 Ranked #124
May '20 Ranked #46 to #43 (Still #1 WDE in the class)
May '20 Jeff Wilfong predicts ALABAMA
Jun '20 ND Offers - last offer made to Turner - why even bother, unless covering your ass by saying he was offered.
Jul '20 COMMITS to ALABAMA (less than 30 Days after ND offers)
Nov '20 Ranked #8 Overall in the Country at any position

Even though ND has had a relationship and some success in recruiting from that catholic school, I believe that he had was interested in Alabama, Ohio St. and Michigan, so a northern climate was probably not an absolute deterrent in his decision. Also, he would not have been easily susceptible to the negative recruiting about ND's culture since he went to school at STA. However, ND finally getting involved with this recruit speaks volumes regarding ND's lack of genuine effort in doing what is required to ethically recruit elite players.
