This is not a vent board or any other kind of therapy. Before you hit the POST button, ask yourself if your contribution will add to the level of discussion going on.

Please do not copy entire articles into your post; rather, provide links to them.. We are now links-only for ALL Internet publications. If only a small portion of the article pertains to your post, Fair Use allows you to copy those one or two paragraphs, provided you cite the author's name and the publication for which he writes. Otherwise, put a link in the HTTP Link box.
Even if you're copying a reference to an article, provide a link to the page from which the article came. We're trying to cut down on duplicate topics, and the posting process will check the link to your article to see if it's already being discussed on this board. At the very least, you'll save yourself some grief on the boards.
If your first reaction after reading the article you're going to share is the author is uninformed / stupid / a jerk / all of the above, it's not worth sharing with anyone. Not every article needs to be discussed. The more the hair-pulling articles are discussed (e.g. ESPN Page 2), the more the authors will write hair-pulling articles.

independent in football and be a full member of a conference. I don't care how much money we'd bring to a conference, the other schools WILL NOT go for it. If we want to get a BYE in the playoffs, we have to be a full member of the conference which would mean that the conference is in charge of our scheduling, not us.

People can rail on Swarbrick till the cows come home but the overwhelming majority of people want us to remain independent and Swarbrick has positioned us to be in the playoffs on a regular basis while the conference power players likely would like to force us to join something.

If we ever join a conference (as a full member) it will be the Big10. It's a power player and it's geographically and academically aligned with ND...it's a no-brainer if it ever gets to that point.

I still believe that football should split off and then you can have your geographic conferences for all your other sports. Have a premier league style with 3 tiers and have promotion/relegation. That way you'd have monster matchups every week in the top tier and you'd have tons of eyeballs on the promotion tournaments in the lower tiers. It was be a massive amount of money that TV would throw at something like that. It could even be bigger than the NFL because it covers so many random areas of the country who are just college-junkies.
