Interesting Night To Not Go On the Internet: Dara Thoughts by dillon77

- As many of you know, I'm a Mabrey follower/fan and have seen zounds of Dara's games. Like MPG, I hoped Dara would've come as a frosh. Still, better late than never.

- As for position and PT, I'm guessing there were lots of conversations between the coaching staff and Dara regarding what position she'd best play and which she'd best have a chance at seeing the floor.

- That said, if she has to sit a year out (probable), that will probably be an advantage. She can practice ballhandling and shooting and coaching staff can see where her strengths are.

My immediate gut is that I think her best avenue at getting on the court is taking over Destinee Walker's shooting guard responsibilities. Dara is a long-range shooter who can also drive to the hoop (she's the quickest of the Mabreys by far).

- She's also a very good -- and pesky -- defender due to her quickness and dogged determination. With Anaya, Abby and Alasia, I see a trend towards tough defenders.

- I'm guessing that it's open house/competition at Camp Niele, not just this year, but in 2021 as well. That's all a competitor can ask for.

- And because of that, I wouldn't count out Dara. As Skylar's tweet (attached) indicates, Mabreys not only have swag(ger), but ND teams tend to win -- a lot -- when they're on them. Let's hope that record continues.

Welcome home, Dara. Go Irish!

p.s.
- If Azzi Fudd wants to come, she's always welcome. There's one slot left. We've been over this but how can one say "no" to the #1 player?
- And if AF doesn't, ND could still go after KK Bransford in 2022.

p.s.s. Last night -- while not on the internet -- I watched "Ramy," set in nearby Rutherford, NJ, about an Egyptian Muslim-American. It's a "dramedy" and I highly recommend it. On Hulu. Ramy himself is a great lead character, writes well and has a fine ensemble cast. The actress playing his mother is on "Succession."
