I was 50/50 on how the call would play out with VAR by spade

But two things stuck out for me.

One, when Ederson saw it go in, neither he nor the defenders who had a front-row seats to it, reacted as if it went off his hand. If they didn't immediately see a handball, then perhaps a no-call was the right call, even after the oh-so-close VAR.

Second, his arm went out to meet the ball, but was when the ball actually came and hit his arm/hip his arm was tucked tightly against his body. I would never think a defender gets a penalty called because of that contact, but I also don't think an offensive goal should be disallowed either because of a arm tucked tightly to his body.

Did I think it contacted his arm, yes. Did I think it was a "handball", no. His arm was in a natural postion, whatever that means.
