• Please do not copy entire articles into your post; rather, provide links to them.. We are now links-only for ALL Internet publications. If only a small portion of the article pertains to your post, Fair Use allows you to copy those one or two paragraphs, provided you cite the author's name and the publication for which he writes. Otherwise, put a link in the HTTP Link box.
• Even if you're copying a reference to an article, provide a link to the page from which the article came. We're trying to cut down on duplicate topics, and the posting process will check the link to your article to see if it's already being discussed on this board. At the very least, you'll save yourself some grief on the boards.
• If your first reaction after reading the article you're going to share is the author is uninformed / stupid / a jerk / all of the above, it's not worth sharing with anyone. Certainly, one missed call or VAR flip can determine a two-legged knockout tie. But Liverpool had to get through: PSG (group), Bayern, Porto (not worldbeaters, but Primeira runners up), and Barcelona. IMO, Tottenham was the weakest side they played in the knockouts, particularly since Kane wasn't 100%.

PSG, Bayern and Barcelona are all better than anything outside the current top two in the PL. Getting past them takes fewer matches, but they're better teams. There's a reason why England is still #2 in current coefficients - they're top heavy just like all leagues and just a bit more so than Spain.

I don't think the PL, in general, is a 'tougher' competition. I just think it's set up poorly and it discourages parity. They start too early and they play too many matches over that December-January stretch. They have two domestic cup competitions. It's more a test of quality depth than anything else.
