Athletic Ability:
I get out of bed daily! Some days that is an athletic feat (Eight years ago, the pain management doctor said I was 58 with the body of an 85 year old and would never get better, and just hope to maintain.). I excel at interval napping (intentional, or otherwise [severe sleep apnea and insomnia does that to you]).
Sartorial Style:
Comfortably Casual. Business casual, or better, for funerals and weddings. I own many ties, but prefer not to wear them, or tie them.
Favorite Beverage and Consumption Freq:
Propel Electrolyte Water Beverage (Berry) Silk Almond Unsweetened Vanilla, 30 Calories Spring Water Daily
Political Philosophy:
Classic liberal republican, with a lowercase l and a lowercase r. (see below) I was an undergrad and graduate student of a Graduate Assistant to Professor Leo Strauss. I studied under two other professors also students of Professor Strauss. I am a Straussian. I am not a Neo-Con. I am not a Republican, Conservative, Democrat, or Liberal. I am a classic liberal republican, but an independent voter.
Religious Philosophy:
Pre-Vatican II Roman Catholic (although not religious about it); influenced by intellectual interests in idiosyncratic and syncretic blends of metaphysical traditions and philosophies.
Musical Favorites:
Classic rock; instrumental jazz-rock-pop-funk-fusion; jazz ensembles and bands; concert bands and orchestras; classical music; and limited, but not much, smooth jazz. Pre-D.C.I. and early D.C.I. Drum and Bugle Corps repertoires. I avoid urban, rap, most heavy metal and techno, grunge, country, modern era pop (shudder), and almost all contemporary attempts to "make" music.
Favorite Quote from an ND Coach:
Lou Holtz: "Coaching is nothing more than eliminating mistakes before you get fired."
What else do you want us all to know:
I lurked on NDNation from the time of the C4C. I have followed the University of Notre Dame as an institution, and its sports teams (particularly football), for 58 years. Hati Hijau is Indonesian/Malay for "Green Heart."
