As an old man, I recommend old-man features:

  1. Procure a "mountain bike."
  2. Replace the knobby tires with street tires.
  3. Front shocks are a 'must' ("shox," what-have-you)
  4. Gel seat
  5. Springs on the seat (excuse me...SADDLE)


I recently rode my ancient road bike, a 20th century Schwinn LeTour, and my wrists and backbone reeeeeally missed the road bump absorption qualities as described above.
