Look, I've never been west of Hawaii, so this is my way to try to keep tabs on things.

From what I've read, Myanmar is a nightmare. It's a police state. Women and children being indiscriminately killed. Resistance fighters being hanged and burned alive. Stories of torture are routine. See the link for a sample of news. I have yet to see any good news coming out of that country recently.

I am sorry for your student being pulled back home like this. May God watch over him/her.
