Russia's stopped selling many refined products and has to sell more unrefined crude. They're then going to have more difficulty buying imports to fuel their war machine.

It does seem like we've made some progress on sanctions. We've stepped up enforcement on banks in the UAE and Turkey, improving enforcement of the price cap and reducing Russian imports from Turkey pretty substantially.

the Biden Administration wants in the long term? Fewer refineries, less oil. Less oil, less greenhouse gas. Less greenhouse gas, less climate change. Ukraine should start labeling their strikes as "eco-warrior" offensives.

If the price of gas doubled before the election, it's likely Trump would win and set back Ukraine and the green transition.

At this point there's no risk that this would cause anywhere near that level of a shift so I don't see the issue.
