We love them, especially with small kids.

We have 5 of them, all smart TCL Rokus from Costco. For us, they are great because you get the most bang for your buck at a dirt cheap price. We learned our lesson the hard way when we spent quite a bit for a new flatscreen 5 years ago at Costco and our then 2 year old daughter threw a toy at it and broke it days after the 90 day warranty expired. The only downside to them is the lack of HDMI ports and optical digital outputs. We have a Sonos surround sound system throughout our house and we were only able to connect our family room TV (TCL Roku) through our DirecTV box, which does not allow any of the internet/ app based programming to stream through the speakers. We could have negated this by installing a Sonos Sound Bar, but didn't want to spend the extra money for that.
