Graham Mertz out of Overland Park, KS...evidently committed early to WI and was continuously pursued by ND and others. Told everybody early on that his WI commitment was rock solid and so the recruiting ended.

The typical Wisconsin QB is more of a "game manager" type. Their strength is lies with a perennially strong running game. I wonder how they'll look with a kid like Mertz at the helm. He had offers from Alabama and Clemson.

With their annually demonstrated commitment to the running game, it's remarkable more QB's haven't prospered at WI against defenses focused on stopping the run. Would think the passing game would be a secondary concern on virtually every play. Outside of lucking into Russell Wilson for a year, the Badgers have experienced a wasteland of talent at the QB position. We'll see if Mertz is the long-overdue answer to the needs.
