on field.

I learned that day it was "Fight On Notre Dame" not The Notre Dame Victory March that we'd all been fooled into believing for decades.

Thank you Jim for clearing that up.

was it he or another announcer, who after a critical Irish TD during a game in I think Holtz's first season, quoted a short poem or verse that concluded with him saying "they're back"?? I cannot remember what he said, and I've been dying to find the video or audio of that for years!!

He gets a pass from me.

He was never the prick to ND that Chris Fowler has always been. (Note: As I recall, they both came on ESPN as interns of sorts at the same time.)

Lampley’s first game was 1972 Nebraska - UCLA for ABC *

Lampley started at ABC way back. He's about 15 years

older than Fowler. I don't believe Lampley has ever actually worked for ESPN, perhaps on some his boxing broadcasts.

IIRC, he was pretty much a cub reporter for ABC in 1974

when he reported on the six ND players being suspended for a year.

Just my take but he seemed to enjoy it.

But I'm just a sensitive guy.

Whatever happened to ND's Terry O’Neil?

Didn't he and Lampley join ABC about the same time?
