I'm sure they would as it's well known that there is no proof the Spanish Flu originated in Spain.

because there were no restraints placed on the Spanish press to discuss the extent of the pandemic. While the press was silent here and in many other corners of the world, the Spanish newspapers could and did report on the extent of it, hence the term "Spanish Flu."
