We were punished because an employee of the athletic department provided impermissible benefits, which made roughly 10 players ineligible to compete.

That had nothing to do with our honor code whatsoever.

That some of those players also were ineligible because we changed grades, doesn’t change the fact above. The benefits made them immediately ineligible. The grades were after the fact. If we hadn’t changed their grades, we still would have used ineligible players and would have to vacate the wins
