No official announcement yet, but it appears we lost Tirico
by 1NDGal (2019-08-24 07:25:46)

for home broadcasts and Dan Hicks is back.

Hicks and Flutie.

Tirico is calling golf on day of the Los Lobos game, and Hicks’s wikipedia page says he is doing ND games 2019-___.

Hicks?

Ugh. He's is just horrible, and seems to go out of his way to be critical of the Irish to compensate for being married to an alumnus.

Hicks is just awful in general

A cliche factory. He was the MC for the Payne Stewart award and it was embarrassing.

Yes he is. *

Time to fire up the horses and bring back Tom Hammond!

Then we can get the old faux rock NBC theme from the 90s back while we're at it.

I know you're part kidding, but I would almost prefer that.

Also, I liked the theme song from the mid 90s. I think the version you are thinking of was from some time in the 2000s

Late 90s early 2000s

I don't remember a different one when I was little, but I was 6 so maybe my memory just sucks.

It was the same from early 90s through 05

And I'm still mad they changed it, especially because they don't even really have a theme anymore.

I have to give Tirico some credit. He was much better than

most of the previous announcers on NBC ND games.

He was very tolerable compared to other announcers *

Maybe the best in his profession.

At least Maude isn't coming back.

In Jan 2013, ND gets blown out in the post-season and Hicks

is brought on for the following season. In December, 2018, ND gets blown out in the post-season and Hicks is brought on for the following season.

I see a pattern here.

Tirico moved over to NBC to take over

SNF from Al Michaels. He’s likely to retire after this Super Bowl which is being aired by NBC.

Doing ND games was just filling time for him. From many reports, he loves golf way more than college football.

NBC isn't broadcasting the Super Bowl until 2022

Per the article below from earlier this year, Fox broadcasts the next Super Bowl in 2020 (ugh). CBS will broadcast it in 2021, and NBC in 2022.

Only game on Labor Day, I think they might have called the Labor Day game at Texas as well, but not sure.

That was Joe Tess

They probably would've done it had it been on Labor Day, but it was the Sunday of Labor Day weekend.

I was told that Texas is back

I was a pretty big Joe Tess fan when he did college football, but that line did not age well haha.
