with a coach who has gone 8-10 since the beginning of 2018 (now 3-3 in 2019) and is now playing under an interim AD. The game was still in doubt until the failed onside kick attempt.

This, against a team that came into the game ranked 38th by FEI whose leading rusher has had knee soreness all year and is now done for the year. This is not the USC of the 60's and 70's.

I think somebody mentioned it recently, but since 1994, we are 4-39 against teams that finished in the top 10 and we haven't won such a game since 2013. We haven't won a major bowl game since 1/1/1994.

It's hard to be excited beating a mediocre team by 3 points at home.

EDIT: Fixed misspelling.

We've played or played against a backup qb

In more USC games than not over the last decade.

Slovis wasn't 2013 Andrew hendrix out there. He made some really good plays.

USC has 8 five stars guys compared to 1 for ND

They all have more four stars than ND and their second string QB is probably better than their first string QB. With the right coach USC could be great tomorrow. It’s a mistake to undersell them. That said, they are not well coached.

Mediocre might be a bit harsh - - - 1) Some experts

believe SC's three WR's are as good as any in the country. 2) SC did beat Stanford and Utah, two substantial teams. 3) Sagarin ranks SC, even after the ND loss, as the 26th team in the country and SC is only about 7.5 points behind ND (80.74 and 88.10) on his scale. 4)ND versus SC is a rivalry game. Emotion plays a larger role than usual in such games. 5) Going on the eye test here but the SC QB who played most of the game is a solid QB in my view.

Also, Slovis graduated a semester early from HS
