The population of the Maritime provinces is about 2 million compared to 330 million in the USA.

Having spent considerable time in Prince Edward Island, which is where a number of my extended family members live and where my grandfather lived, I can tell you that it is almost entirely rural and sparsely populated, with the exception of Charlottetown (which itself is no booming metropolis). The percentage of Canadians who wear masks is reported to be lower than the USA.
