by the way, for those interested in recruiting

the expectation is that there will be a ton of very early commitments (some have already started). Kids are very worried about the possibility of no junior camps, the transfer portal, and the potential loss of 5-10 scholarships for next year's class for a lot of schools. I've heard that several power 5 schools (including some whom we play) have told kids that the administration is not giving them authorization to accept any commitments. CA schools are especially under the microscope, apparently.

This might lead to a lower than usual offer list and (it would stand to reason) less "commitable" offers (which is a bullshit term anyway). The top schools who have been recruiting the top players for 2-3 years can really benefit from this squeeze being put on the athletes.

I think that is a definite possibility.

The other issue is the lost year in some states

Kids who are now juniors in states that didn't play football last year (e.g. California) have to rely on sophomore tape or late offers based on their senior year (if that happens). Sophomore tapes may identify the top of the heap, but for most kids there is a lot of development that occurs after fall of their sophomore year.

If they can go to camps they will be fine

Recruiting doesn't rely much on actual games anymore unfortunately.

the recruiting side of it. Obviously the development opportunity is lost.
