A&M just got hit with an NCAA violation in 2020 for Pete's sake. And the university has a long history of skeevy behavior. A&M got put on a five-year probation in 1994 with a bowl ban because they were, wait for it, paying players. Before that it was a two-year probation in '88 that forced Jackie Sherrill's resignation. They've been cited for rules-breaking a total of 8 times by my count and the NCAA was at one time seriously considering the SMU "death penalty" to try and rein in the Aggies.
