but the whole team looked soft. Too many shifts not playing to the whistle from what I saw. Too many Wisconsin skaters going by defensemen that looked like they were standing still. And only one line scored all weekend.
Only the first weekend, but this team better figure out something quick. Porous defense, shaky goaltending and no scoring are not a good mix. Jackson will tinker with lines and pairs so it is very possible it will just be a matter of getting the right combinations/chemistry. I do think though the team is very likely to once again be among the bottom couple of teams in both the power play and overall scoring, so it could be a bumpy ride.
Couldn't agree more about the Defense. None of them have played well all weekend, although that 3rd pair is beyond comical. We had 6 D suited up tonight, but Raith only played 1 shift. Apparently Burke is still the preferred option over him.
If you get hit in open ice just lay there for 60 seconds. It will guarantee a penalty and most likely a 5-minute and an early shower for the skater that delivered the check. Been this way for years, hasn't had an iota of an effect on curbing the dangerous hits to the head, or the checking from behind into the boards.
FWIW though, I actually thought he deserved the major penalty on this particular hit.
