BC & ND What an unusual game.

• BC had only two penalties, both were 5 minute majors plus 10 minute game misconducts. (technically 4 penalties but who's counting)
• ND challenged an on-ice non-call. The second period start was delayed for the review. The incident happened with about 2:50 left in the first period. BC & ND players were coming out of the ND zone when the BC guy clocked ND with his arm. It didn't look intentional but it caused the ND player to fall to the ice and stay down for a few seconds. The penalty was called & ND got a 5 min PP.
• Another on-ice call was reviewed and overturned resulting in a goal for ND.
• Rolston's hat trick was completed with mere seconds remaining in the game.
• ND played like a junior high team in the first period, then completely turned it around for the final two. Maybe the JJ challenge had something to do with it.
• The student section was packed, I think they had to expand their seating there were so many. Very good to see that.
• The scoreboard replay actually showed the penalties, and the plays under review. Very unusual was that they showed BC's Nesterenko and his checking from behind that got ND the 5 min power play.
• Now we know that the team knows how to put the puck in the net, even when they're ahead. Instead of jacking around and trying not to make a mistake when they have the lead. Hope they can keep it up when Minnie comes to town.

BC is just another terrible OOC team on our schedule bringing down our margin of error for making the playoffs.

We simply can’t afford to lose, ever.

On the Scoreboard, it has always angered me that you have

a scoreboard like that and more often then not they show no replays of plays under review or penalties, cheap shots, challenge plays etc. Makes zero sense to me. The crowd sits there as the board shows nothing not knowing what the heck they are looking at

Any idea why the student section was so packed?

A midweek game not originally on the schedule doesn't lend itself to larger crowds. Even for a "name" draw like BC.

There hasn't been that much to do around campus lately.

The BB teams were on the road, there hasn't been home hockey since the students have been back. It's BC so that helped. COVID is rather high in the county so going out and about in South Bend isn't exactly the safest thing to do. I think it was likely a mix of all of those things that led to a stronger turnout.
