This sport and especially this conference is leaving

Notre Dame in the dust.

Get ready for a return to the era of saying we had a good year if we finished 4th. Poulin used to love talking about "making the Joe" back when 6 of the 12 teams made the trip. Lofty goals to aim for.

Without serious change we will be nothing but a second division afterthought in the Big Ten.

Big fall from how ND entered the conference

I miss boat racing the conference and being the big bad new bully.

We swept the other 6 teams en route to a 13-0 start

in the conference our first season, and swept our way to conference playoff titles in our first two seasons, going 6-0 in the process. Since making that splash we're nothing more than a .500 team that has done barely more than squat in the postseason in 5 seasons, including some completely unacceptable performances on home ice in 2021 and last season.

Our recruiting hasn't panned out in years, and player development is far short of where it needs to be. The same problems with special teams and goal scoring have plagued this team for a long time. In fact if not for very good seasons out of the last couple of number one goalies, this team would have been pretty bad for most of the last 5 years.

Frankly I don't care much how this season turns out, a change in direction is absolutely needed.

A lot like the end of the Brey era in MBB *

I think the Brey comparison is a little more on the nose

York hung four banners at BC during his time there. Jackson, like Brey, took hockey to a place it had not gone before -- or in Brey's case, a place they had not been in a long, long time.
