so I'm playing golf with a buddy

(great post by the way)
and we started talking about the "great football programs...the top 10" and he says, "well, don't you think Michigan is a top 5 program"

I quickly respond, "I don't think they're a top 10 program of all time"

He quickly comes back with, "explain"

I say, "you've got to quickly say these are top programs over Michigan...let's go by conference"
Notre Dame (more on that in a moment)
Alabama
USC
Miami
Florida State
Ohio State
Penn State
Oklahoma
Nebraska
Clemson
Florida

Then I start in on the programs that would make a claim:
Washington
Tennessee
Texas
LSU
Georgia

Then you've got programs who'd claim it, but I wouldn't agree:
Auburn
A&M
Michigan State

I tell him that Michigan's most favored coach is Bo Schembechler...he completely agrees (we're both 52 year old, fwiw) I tell him, "did you know Bo never won a national championship, and yet ND had three coaches who won a national title during Bo's tenure"

At the end, he not only agreed, but said, "you made a complete case that Michigan isn't even a top 15 program" and I asked him, if there is some media fascination with Michgan and he completely agreed with me, fwiw.

I don't hate Michigan...I loathe Michgan with the contempt I hold for Al-Quaeda
