South Carolina making an A'ja Wilson statue

I haven't seen this discussed here. Hey, if USC wants to do it, OK, but isn't it a bit premature? Want to honor her? Retire her jersey or put up a plaque or something like that.

And if they want to do a statue, shouldn't you wait a few years to see if she really does make "legend" status? And shouldn't you consider a statue to the coach before a statue to a player?

The funny thing is that in a thread on another board someone started posting pictures of sports statues at ND, and I was thinking "There's a statue of the Four Horsemen?" I guess that shows how much I've been to campus lately. I'm guessing almost all the ones they showed were in the last 10 years or so with the stadium expansion.

The statues that I remember from when I was at ND (Oh no, am I becoming one of those "Well, when I was at ND..." alumni?) were Fr. Sorin, Fr. Corby, Jesus, Moses, Mary, and Tom Dooley. There are probably one or two that I'm missing, but those were the main ones I remember.

Do they have an Alex English statue? *

She is the greatest player in the history of that program.

They wouldn't have achieved what they have in the past four years without her and I don't think it would even be close. She is a legend for that program regardless of what she does in the WNBA or elsewhere. I wouldn't do it at ND, but I have no problem with a program like South Carolina doing it.

around the stadium are statues of the great coaches

including Ara, Lou plus the oldtimers. You forgot the Rock at the Rock. I do not know of any statues for the players. I would imagine a Fr hesburgh statue at some point maybe with Fr Joyce. Also there is one of Moose.

Rock at the Rock is a Bust, not a statue *

I don't know what year it went up next to the reflecting pool - maybe 2010 or so?
