ND Not on Brea Beal's Top 5 List
by dillon77 (2018-08-17 18:35:24)

On Aug. 17th, Brea Beal announced her five finalists: Illinois, Duke, Louisville, S. Carolina and Michigan.

That ND is not on this list is not a total surprise: after attending her open house last summer, there was not any mention of visiting her HS games or Beal coming to ND. Perhaps the ND coaches saw enough when Brea played next Anaya Peoples on her AAU team.

As for the Irish, I'm pretty well convinced that for 2019 wings, it's Haley Jones or wait until 2020. Hopefully, this means that Irish braintrust must feel great about their chances for Ms. Jones or in the 2020 wing prospects they're scouting.

As for Ms. Beal, she and her dad are on record as stating how academics are important to her. Based on that (and the fact that Louisville and S. Carolina seem almost pro forma at this point), I see Duke and Michigan as favorites, with Nancy Fahey's Illini as a dark horse.

I seem to remember Beal being pretty high on uconn at one time. Anyone else remember that? If so, I have to wonder why uconn isn't among the finalists.

Nope. Nor Stanford, Which She Also Mentioned....

...in press interviews early on as the type of school she was interested in.

UConn's focus at a wing/big guard is on Haley Jones and Jordon Horston, who started next to each other on the recent US National u17 team. And Stanford is in play for Jones, as well.

Never did seem to be any mutual interest *
