She is a much better defender than any of her classmates. Good on the ball, good help, and does not get lost when others rotate or switch. She had a couple of nice assists, too.
She has more Hannah Huffman in her game than Madison Cable, but it looks like she will show better offensive skills than Huffman once she has a little experience.

She seemed to take charge a bit when she came in. Hard to tell from home.
Had a swagger like she's been around awhile.
I see more Cable, maybe even Brittany Mallory (although that might be the facial similarity) than Huffman in her game. Huffman was an energizer bunny/bull in a china shop player. Of course, Freshman/Sophmore Huffman really was not much more than a bench player. Prohaska looks to have a much better offensive game than Huffman ever did and I think she could develop into the kind of smart, uber alert player that Cable was. Nice problem to have either way.

is a left handed compliment to Prohaska. Huffman showed very little offensive skill and even senior year was often left wide open until she showed she could consistently pop that foul line area jumper. You say "potato" I say "potahto"
She is (or will be) a better offensive player than Huffman who, while not one to shoot very often, managed to make 62.5% of her shots in conference games as a senior, second only to Turner's 65.8%. She also had 1.4 assists per game which prorated to 3.2 per 30 minutes, and she was one of only five players on that team with fewer turnovers than assists.
Offense wasn't Huffman's role, but she didn't suck at it.
adjusted to the college game. But Muffet LOVES her aggressiveness. In fact, Muffet wishes more players would risk drawing charges as Abby does. Muffet is on record as saying that she wants the team to take some risks on defense, as they are playing a bit passive (perhaps a residual effect from last season).
Another bit of evidence to support my point. Look at how many minutes Abby had compared to the other bench players. Her 19 minutes are almost as many as Nixon, who started. And she played a lot in the first half. I believe Muffet is rewarding her for her aggressiveness. By the way, I not implying that you are taking the opposing view. You stated that you like her game a lot and I am agreeing with you.
When has Notre Dame had a freshman who was this disruptive? Marina started off her freshman year as a steals machine, but Abby should be a better defender in the end, as she moves her feet very well, whereas Marina is more of a poker with her hands. Jewell was an excellent defender, but I don't know if she was this disruptive, although that was probably a good thing, as Jewell started and couldn't afford to be that reckless. But Abby has 5 fouls to spend each game, and if Abby is aggressive, I believe that Muffet will allow her to use them!

That's genuine distraction. And I agree with you...she moves her feet well. Bit of a learning curve for refs, too; getting used to a very in-your-body presence.

Wonder how many practices Danielle Patterson (DP) missed. Would not have expected her to enter with less than 2 minutes left just ahead of Maureen Butler. And Danielle Cosgrove, who entered in the third quarter, had been bench for a team violation for Harvard. BTW, nice form on the jumper, DC.

Yes. Does she drop off her man to steal passess/double team on the low block? Yes. Good court awareness and passing? Yes.
I think it's an apt comparison. But mainly I think it's an intangibles thing that brings Maddie to mind when I see Abby play.
