In reply to: Thoughts on transfers as a parent of college kids  posted by drmurray

My daughter's class seemed to have a lot of transfers and kids leaving college. I always wondered if kids struggle to transition to college because their lives are so structured and ordered through high school and they are unprepared to have the discipline to handle free time once they're on their own.

But is this on the parents or the kid?

I went 1500 miles away from school. It was an adjustment because I had no parents to tell me what to do. I struggled as a sophomore but I also learned that I could live without my parents.

I am not saying why there are so many

You are right and I think this might become a big issue in the near
future for all schools if the do not get a hold of it now. Either
student athletes or putting enough time and thought into or the
emotions of the moment are leading them away. I have no problems
with transfer. But lets not make it to easy for them that they make
an emotional decision and not the best decision. I hope I put my
thought out there easy enough to understand.

...Doc I love reading your point. They are on point and easy to
understand and given with a lot of thought and knowledge. Thanks.
