NCAA Rule Changes Announced for 2019-20 Season

In addition to his reporting on Sedona Prince visiting Storrs next week, UConn reporter Carl Adamec also reported rule changes for the upcoming season. It was buried a bit in my earlier post, so I'll just cut and past (and attribute the reporting of the changes to him).

"The NCAA Women’s Basketball Rules Committee has taken a page from the WNBA when it comes to resets of the shot clock.

"...In college play this coming season, the 30-second shot will reset to 20 seconds (if the clock is under 20) following an offensive rebound, a defensive foul in the frontcourt, or if the ball is kicked. Previously, the clock had reset to 30 following a rebound or foul and to 15 (if the clock was under 15) for a kick.

"Another change is that a player who is assessed one technical foul and one unsportsmanlike foul will be ejected. The women’s committee, however, decided to keep the 3-point line is at 20 feet, 9 inches, instead of moving it back to the international distance (22-1¾)."

So, the three-point lines for the women and guys at Purcell Pavilion will be spaced a bit further apart, since they NCAA voted to push the guys' line back to international standards.
