Historically Muffet and Brey didn't scheduled anything during finals. They let the players come in and work out on their own.

I think that the male practice players will not be available

after this week until classes are back in session. My guess is that this was the last chance for a competitive scrimmage before the first regular season game. You are right about past exam weeks for the basketball teams, but everything is different during this year of the plague...
