the Notre Dame Men's Cross Country team finished 2nd in the country at the NCAA Championship meet! This completely shocked the nation—well, that small nation that follows cross country. (I thought some good news was in order.)

OK, here is the tie-in. In the women's meet (ND did not qualify), the woman who led for 90% of the race, Whittni Orton, from BYU, earlier had set a world's record for dribbling a basketball for a mile. Here it is:
