The way out of the whole is to invest in young talent now...

starting with midfielders everywhere - especially since Herrera may be on his way to PSG - and also the backline.

Sancho, Fekir, de Ligt, Bailey, Tielemans, Sessegnon, Alexander-Arnold, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Militao, de Jong, all of them possibilities.

The time is now - before we turn into Arsenal. Let Madrid reel in more galacticos. United needs to invest in an up and coming young core before it's truly too late.

The Spanish sides are making us look like the Notre Dame of European soccer. God knows Liverpool had that perception all to themselves.

The arrogance of thinking Trent would sign for Man U

or anywhere else for that matter.

Man, I don't know where that comes from.

The problem with your theory is Madrid

will turn its focus to Galacticos this summer after significant investment in elite young players the past 3 seasons during the Champions run. Madrid has spent major dollars in South America to get Vinicius, Rodrygo Goel, Brahim Diaz, Militao (in Europe already), Fefe Valverde in addition to their Spanish stable (Asencio, Ceballos, Oscar, Odriozola, Reguilon). Add in their loan players (Theo Hernandez, Ashraf Hakimi, Lunin, Raul de Tomas) and the next generation has some nice pieces.

I think Madrid is about to splash the cash this summer but they are doing exactly what you suggest in young player investment. I am actually a bit skeptical as to how much Madrid will spend this summer. I still think it will be Hazard and a striker but Zizou's love for Pogba may change the plans a bit in addition to the opportunity to nab Icardi for less than $80M. It will be a fun summer across Europe + Copa America.

The list in your post

Sancho: Possible, but it's going to be a long line of suitors if he gets a price tag
Fekir: Possible, but he may be damaged goods
de Ligt: Nearly impossible, highly difficult since he's all but signed with Barcelona
Tielemans: Possible
Sessegnon: Sure, but...is that really a high potential?
TAA: Impossible
CHO: Highly, highly unlikely since they'd sell him to Bayern cheaper than United
de Jong: He's already signed

If you're truly shooting for youth (sub 25), particularly in midfield, then you'd definitely need more realistic options: Thorgan Hazard, Weigl, Lemar, Neves, and Rodri.

As far as the back line goes...they need to spend. Skriniar would be a good start. Maybe Lenglet could be an option if he wants more playing time, he has a good future.

My only nit

CHO: Highly, highly unlikely since they aren't likely to sell him at all, and if they did decide to sell, they'd sell him to Bayern cheaper than United

Yeah that was my main point

He has interest outside the PL so they’d be happier sending him overseas.

Yeah...TAA isn't going to Man U. *
