I expected Kyle Walker to play #9 not Bernardo Silva.
Maybe Klopp is playing for a YOLO final 25 minutes hoping RM will be tired or prematurely celebrating.
Maybe he's threading that needle?
I just don't see it happening.
Thiago has been great lately, certainly knows the moment. It'll be a quick hook is my guess.
Milner has played some fantastic football lately. He provides much better defensive cover to allow the fullbacks to go forward. Until Liverpool get their CBs back Thiago is a liability defensively and a yellow waiting to happen. He wasn’t brought in to be an engine like Hendo, Milly or Gini. He’s there to dictate play when Liverpool dominate the ball. For now I’m happy with him as an impact sub. I expect much bigger things next year.
they needed goals though.
The whole thing is just frustrating. I laughed out loud in the car this morning listening to whoever from Anfield Wrap talk about all that's gone on. It's comically frustrating to watch.
Had Liverpool completed just half of their XGs I think we'd be talking about a game for the ages for Milner. I thought he was borderline "heroic" last night. In an empty Anfield he was able to set a tone where Casemiro got so frustrated (up 3-1) that he was willing to risk a red to take him out. And the captain stood up and took it like a champ. It made me think of how Messi was completely taken out of the match mentally during the Barca comeback. And Milner essentially said, "that all you got?"
Mane and/or Salah needed to be great for Liverpool to win. They were knocking on the door, but it just wasn't their night.
Yes, the struggles at Anfield have been rather comical. No doubt weakened back put undue pressure on the front line to score. Now that the back has been shored up some (albeit 4th choice options) the confidence up front is shaken.
Interestingly, it's the midfield that could have stepped up at any point this season to support the front three. But they really don't have the tools to shoot from distance. Ironically, it was Milner that had the best shot outside the box. That's certainly not Thiago's game. It's quite the conundrum. Thiago is world class. But I'm not gonna lie, I'd have been really tempted to play Jones instead.
Should be at least 1-0.
will the 5th-place PL team get to the Champions League with the 6th place team getting to the Europa League?
Maybe Htown would come back...
I kinda figured he couldn’t make it past seeing Lampard’s downfall.
blocked by the post, we should get 2-0 and be able to advance.
Now we need to have ourselves a good ebening in the next round.
