1 year, $5 million. In baseball salary terms, that is chump change.

I was a big fan of Anderson, but he went way off the rails in every way last year. His attitude sucked, his hitting sucked and his fielding in particular was horrendous. I hope gets his head back on straight.

His fall is remarkable. What $ was he projected at 2 yrs ago *

He had a microscopic .582 OPS last year

He’s lucky he got $5 million. Mario Mendoza had better years.

The power numbers were especially head scratching.

In every season he has played at least 120 games, he hit 17 or more HR. Even in the short season on 2020 he hit 10 in 49 games. I expect he will have a bit of a bounce back season.

His statistics are odd. Never more than 20 home runs

Or 63 RBI. Very good batting average, but low OBP. Only more than 123 games twice, but exactly 123 games 3 times.

162 game average would be .282 with 18 home runs.

He could end up being a bargain for them, who knows *

Who will be grabbing Cody Bellinger? Will he be back with the Cubs?

Up until last week I was somewhat confident they would

Now, I think that the distaste for Boras may become too much. Ricketts' latest statements were not encouraging.

Sadly, the disappointment that was the Jason Heyward deal not only cost them dearly for seven seasons, it may continue to cost them for many more by passing on long term contracts on star free agents. It seems Bellinger may want to come back, but you don't hire Boras and expect to have control of the wheel.

This may drag well into March and he may end up in Toronto or SD.
