ND had 5 in just 14 seasons, from 1943-1956.
There was an article on SI that said there is little chance he plays qb in the NFL
but so did Tua. He was the odds on favorite all season, it was his to lose and I guess you could say that is what he did, lose it by the performance in the SECCG.
I do wonder though if he was a victim of Alabama fatigue, when presented with 2 great candidates that the voters chose the guy not from Alabama.
At certain points in the year Alabama reminded me of the 1992 USA Olympic basketball team. That basketball team was so good that *I* could have won a gold medal with USA Basketball that year because that team only needed 4 players. I could have been the 5th starter, and I could have just stayed in the offensive end in order to pick cherries, or even gone into the stands to buy beer for the guys.
Similarly, Alabama has looked so dominant this year that many of the Heisman voters, especially the QBs like Roger Staubach, Peyton Manning, Steve Spurrier or Andre Ware probably said "hell, I could suit up and play QB at Alabama right now".
And he was fair to middlin'.
Davis for Army in the 40’s.
Palmer made 3 in 4 years.
EDIT: was this a setup?
If Alabama QB Tua Tagovailoa wins the Heisman, Nick Saban will join Frank Leahy, Red Blaik and Woody Hayes as the only coaches to produce at least 3 Heisman winners. pic.twitter.com/EmPIgicqsc

A bunch of QBs with ridiculous stats because they’re constantly in 100 point games while the QBs of the truly good teams are sitting out the 4th quarter.
Prior to 2000, <20 QBs won in the 60+ year history of the award.
Since 2000, 16 QBs and 3 running backs.
Murray looking to make it four in a row, though I will be pulling for the Sooners in their next game.
Still hard to believe
