We may pass on an LB this year
been watching old ND stuff recently. Watched the 1998 UM vs ND game. Most around here long for the days when we had the QB under center, a FB, and a Tailback in the I formation, no five wide, etc.
Davie and Colletto ran that offense. Everybody was glad to see Colletto go, but for that game, that offense, was power football like many would like to see today. Bring back Donut Jim's offense?
It meant Dick Enberg called all of our home games in 1998-1999. But then that benefit turned into a millstone. Enberg left NBC for CBS so he could go back to his wheelhouse of calling the NFL and NCAA basketball, and ND was stuck with Tom Hammond and NBC's then-neglected sports division.
The electric guitar victory march intro to the nbc broadcast.
Not.
1. Autry Denson was a fabulous RB. About 3/4th of the way through that video he pretty much engineered an entire TD drive on his own. Jackson kept feeding him and he kept producing.
2. It was pretty awesome to watch our guys pounding on the great Tom Brady.
it was the first game of the year with a new qb and major adjustments to the system from the year prior (Powlus was, uh, not as fleet a foot as JJ). There was no film on much of that stuff and we likely presented major gameplanning issues for UM.
That OL was bad ass though.
has made quite a mark in Austin. Coaching, AD, and he and the wife are trying to build a big Athletic Complex.
felt bad for the kid that he had to testify in the Moore case.
Of all the stupid ass things ND has done, trying to fight that case might be the dumbest.
And TWO is right; good for him for getting the weight off post-NFL. Probably saved himself several years of life. Unfortunately, most guys seem to go the other direction.
that lost a decent amount of weight after retiring from the NFL.
It seems like if you were one of those tall, athletic guys that needed to put on weight to play in the trenches you would lose the weight when you retired but if you were one of those "always been fat since childhood" guys who got put on the line because you were bigger than everyone else, you just get fatter when you retire.
