And Administrators wonder why students are more apathetic about football than the previous generation? Every important game is a night game.
I guess we can keep blaming HDTV for half empty student sections
So a Sunday night away game would have been just as problematic for the kids.
In any event, a Monday night game in college a bad idea.
They have the entire weekend with no NFL competition and the kickoff won't be until 8:15. This definitely contributes to why my sons have no interest in football.
He kept Notre Dame football independent. Only ten of his ten predecessors had been able to accomplish that. We are so lucky to have a man with his vision and his glasses.
It's quite a pleasant place to visit. But who wants to play a college football game on a Monday night, on the ass end of a holiday weekend? Requiring all who would attend from other cities to miss work the next day?
He preserved independence at the mere cost of playing five games a year against the worst major conference, and he saved space for Bowling Green while he was at it.
Who's going to go out of their way to watch this game?
LSU-Miami drew the largest ratings of the opening weekend and the game was a blowout.
This will be a (likely) Top-10 Irish team against a Louisville team that went 2-10 last year.
Last year's Monday night game (#19 FSU vs. #20 Va Tech) delivered about half the ratings of the Sunday night game you referenced (LSU-Miami drew a 6.6 rating; FSU-Va Tech drew a 3.4).
Of the six teams we've covered in this post (LSU, Miami, FSU, Va Tech, Notre Dame, and Louisville), Louisville has the lowest national appeal by a wide margin...especially coming off of a 2-10 stinker last year.
This game just isn't very appealing. It should be played on Saturday at 3:30 pm.
