And I am obviously ignorant that this is standard practice.
I am not wrong that this disadvantages the team that wins the second game though
Winning comes with privileges, and losing has consequences.
What is much more uneven is the advantages a #4 seed gets by playing its regional (that it didn't even host!) a few miles from campus.
On the broadcast today, they said Providence playerswere back on campus getting medical treatments in their facility while Cornell players had a 3 hr power outage in their hotel.
the late game requires more than 60 minutes of hockey. Which is why you try to avoid that result.
Clarkson really punished us for every inch
physical and mental. And some of the regulation time problem was chasing the game for a good bit.
Rather than have someone say Team X went to OT for a night game and killed team Y the next day.
We weren’t a little bit more tired than UMass, we were dead men skating.
But yes the 2nd team is at a disadvantage. Someone has to be. I’ll add that it’s not for TV but rather for the fans, the host location, and the student athletes that they play back to back all year.
There’s no Tv considerations because there’s no TV money.
