Scholarships. My sister was an AA basketball player recruited by ND and Princeton along with many others. I sat in the office of the coach of princetonnin 1983 with my sister. My father said she had full scholarships at other places. The Princeton coach told my father “we will match anything she gets somewhere else.” My father went on to ask how that was possible given they don’t give scholarships. Again the coach said they would match anything she got from another college.

She went to bucknell - she admits today that was a dumb move, but she also was a star javelin thrower (ranked high nationally and held bucknell record for for 30+ years). Bucknell also didn’t give scholarships. Magically every single year she won the western Pennsylvania state xyz scholarship at bucknell that was a full scholarship. That’s what Princeton does too.
