I disagree on one item

I would take Kayla McBride ahead of JY any day. Watch some of the old U Conn games, She was unbelievable. Might be the best off the dribble shooter we have ever had.

It's hard to over estimate Kayla McBride.

She played better than Skylar in many (most?) of her games junior year, and played even better as a senior.

I agree

I don't think JY deserves to be up there that high. She was a great player but we never saw her have to carry a team throughout a year. If she played her senior year we might have a different perspective. I think Lloyd was a better all around player when she left early also.

Agree With the 16 Mentioned; Some Changes IMO

- Agree with you that K-Mac should be on the first team. She was clutch in big games and was a valued team member...look at her shouting from the bench, feeling for one and all. Exceedingly respected by friend and foe alike.

- Jackie was superb, but to get on that first team I think she needed to have a year of being the go-to person. 2nd team feels right.

- Jacqui Battesast was a really good player on some good, but not great teams. I could see her on third team, save for...

- Big Agreement: Jess Shepard. Never has ND had a more flexible big. One year, she's the low post option; the next she goes between high and low post on offense, while still commanding the boards and playing within the team concept. Honestly, just grateful beyond belief to have had her for the two years, but it does make you wonder what could've been if she, Bri and Kat were around as a rotating threesome. Whew!

- the fact that Alicia Ratay was an exemplarly shooter (180 club) and a good all-round player (she could rebound, using that 6' frame). She was an All-American and the 2nd scoring option on a championship squad. If Lou was worried about 3rd team make-up, just run a more-guard offense!

One note on Ratay as a shooter - 3 point line was 1' closer

She was still a great shooter, but her all-time 3 point percentage would surely be a little lower if she wasn't shooting at 19'-9".

And Mabrey and others would surely have a higher percentage from that shorter distance.

I like Alicia, but she was never considered an AA for her defense. Marina makes that third team on her tenacity and all-round play. Plus she was required to play point guard, so add versatility to her scorecard. And clutch in big games.

Any configuration of Jackie, Jewell, or K-Mac for that last 1st team position can be argued and I am OK with any of them there (as long as the other two are on the 2nd team). Maybe Lou S's determining factor was that Jackie won a championship and played in another. Being the #1 pick in the WNBA draft says something too (of course Jewell can say that, as well)
