Revenue generating sports:

“Voluntary” is interesting too

Sources: The NCAA Division I Council voted to approve voluntary athletic activities in football, MBB and WBB to start June 1st and go through June 30th. There had been a moratorium on that through May 31st. Other sports will be acted on on a later date.

Voluntary activities is a defined item.

The two basic things to know are that any activities must be initiated and requested by the player, and coaches cannot be present at all (even if a player asks a coach to rebound for them).

Basically, this permits voluntary weights and conditioning run by the strength staff. A decision on summer access won't be made until later this week, probably. It seems unlikely that summer access will start before July 1 for basketball, if at all. Football will likely forego summer access, and just start preseason a few weeks earlier.

That being said, the waiver for virtual non-physical activities was extended through June, so basketball and football coaches can still require eight hours of virtual film and team meetings.

As mentioned below, it's going to be up to schools how to manage bringing players back to campus and what they're allowed to do, if at all.

“How does this affect #NotreDame? According to source, #NotreDame moving forward with no use of on-campus facilities until start of fall semester (except maybe football in July) ...men's hoops has Aug. 10 circled as first day players can be on campus doing hoops things.”

Transfer rule dead for 20-21 as well

One-time transfer waivers are dead until at least 2021-22 academic year, sources told @Stadium, as NCAA Division I Council approved a resolution to develop legislation regarding transfer eligibility for January 2021 that would not be effective until 2021-22 academic year

..waiver signals.

Would think that the folks that regular transers that have the best chances are those that have some medical issues in their past (hello, Olivia Owens). Outside of that, the usual crap shoot.

Speaking of Oliva Owens ....

Does Ms. Owens have any interest in ND? Does ND have any interest in Ms. Owens?

Is Coach Ivey still working to bring in a "big" in '21?

During Her Initial H.S. Recruiting, The Answer Was Yes...

..Irish coaches went to see her play at her high school in upstate New York (memory says either MM or CO). Other center in play was Danielle Cosgrove, from Long Island. As to whose choice on Owens, who knows?

It's difficult to gauge who Coach Ivey has interest in whether it's '21, '22 or transfer, unless a propsect (or someone associated with them) drops news, such as Ayanna Patterson's offer. With no campus visits, AAU games/events, etc., the instances to track are "...poof...!"

As for 2021, the only "big" left on the board that we'd been aware of during MM/Beth recruiting is Teonni Key, but many think she's following her older sister to Tennessee or staying put in Carolina. Maybe there's someone else?

But the gut is give Azzi Fudd a Niele-try in '21 and put the primary search for bigs on '22.

Stay tuned...
