I thought it was a good advert.

But I wonder is the USGA was disappointed by the crowds, or lack thereof. Also, it appears to me, as merely a television viewer, that ND needs to do some major work on the course if they want other championships; which they may not want.

About 30 more traps, about 300 more trees, narrower fairways, and tougher roughs would make the course more challenging. Of course this may not favor regular customers, so they could be satisfied with a very pretty course as is.

USGA says attendance met goals

ND says over 100K attended during the course of the week.

I don't think ND will ever host a major PGA event, but I could see them hosting a senior event like the Senior Open or the Senior Championship again. I could see them hosting an LPGA major as well.

Two PGA Championship, a Ryder Cup, and a Senior PGA Championship.
Huge crowds for the 3 regular tour events - large crowd for the Senior, but not near what the regular tour drew. I think this is par for the course (pun intended). And Louisville has a bigger metro area to draw from.

I was at Warren Sunday for the final round, and thought that was a decent size crowd especially considering the heat and the fact Stricker was pretty much assured of winning - no drama. Pros had nothing but good things to say about ND and the course. Had to be good PR for the University.

It wouldn't surprise me to see the Senior PGA take an event to other college courses.

they typically have a lot of extra capacity since their undergraduates are away.

Warren has a decided advantage for parking as well as ingress and egress to the toll road.

Senior tour, the times that I have they seem to have a pretty sparse crowd. Not sure I've seen a really big crowd at a Senior Tour event. I have to admit though I can't remember ever watching the Senior Open, so I don't have anything to compare these crowds to previous Opens.

during the tournament. The greens were soft the first three rounds. When the greens dried out on Sunday the scores were significantly higher. The average score in the final round was 71.3 and only two golfers were more than 2 under par.
