12 seasons, career WAR of 2.2 in 1600+ PA, never above 1.0 in any season. He did play for 5 pennant winners, though. And while I'm at it, how about Hal Lanier? 10 seasons, a negative career WAR, with nearly 4000 career PA. And, lastly, I'll throw in Andy Etchabarren. 15 seasons, 10.8 career WAR, season best of 2.0. He did make a couple of AS teams, which may disqualify him.

He was in my baseball card HoF

In that I seemed to always get a Phil Gagliano. Or his brother Ralph Gagliano who played one major league game ever as a pinch runner. If neither of them, I'd get a Jose Pagan, a Jim Gosger, a Norm Siebern or a Mike de la Hoz. Would I ever get a Willie Mays or a Sandy Koufax? Of course not.

I swear Topps had a 10 to 1 ratio of utility players to All-stars.

You wouldn't have a Willie or a San? *

Series champions, but his career average was only .235 so yes, he deserves consideration.

He was also on Jim Bouton's All-Ugly team.

So there's that, too.

And yet, Tim Salmon never made an ASG

Despite winning RoY, 1 Silver Sugger and 3 Top-15 MVP finishes and a career OPS+ of 128.

He was always swimming upstream with the voters. *
