When did people start shaking hands again?
by Nyirish08 (2020-09-18 14:57:16)

Did I miss a memo?
I have noticed that after like 5 months off, multiple people have started going for the handshake again. Some guy shook my hand today because I got him out of pain last week, and I sprinted for the Purell dispenser.

Then I was at a funeral later, and there was all kinds of hugging and kissing amongst people who, frankly, see each other all the damn time. And it wasn't even one of those sad funerals.

People are letting their guard down. Especially now that the predominant COVID in the country is the stealthier one.

I never stopped.

There was a period for a couple of weeks, where I would asked if they shook or not.

Now, it's pretty much a given that both parties are open to it.
I've only had one person who wanted to do elbows.

They had gloves on. I chose not to. Lord knows where those gloves had been.

I never started

I dislike touching people so the pandemic didn't affect me there

I have shook hands and I have passed. Depended on the situation and how friendly I am with the person.

Closest I've come or seen is elbow-bumping. I've said, "I'd shake hands, but, you know,..."

I have been seeing it too. This is why we can't have nice

It allows humans to routinely do very dangerous things with training and practice (e.g. military operations, driving a car unsafely, etc.), but it can also lead to unnecessary acceptance of risks.

Something to the effect of “you know when I wash my hands? When I shit on them! Something that only happens 2, maybe 3 times a week”
