a while back in a Tweet. That must be what this is.
I think that if it were a FIFA match, they would have to do what they did at Giants Stadium during the '94 World Cup -- Elevate wooden planks all across the field (with supports) extending to about the fifth row of seats to make more playing room.

Pearce added he is “expecting” the Reds to play in New York, and that Indiana has been “mentioned” as a possible third stop in the tour, while there appear to be no plans to head to Canada.
...
The Notre Dame Stadium in South Bend (80,795), Indianapolis’ Lucas Oil Stadium (63,000), Ross-Ade Stadium in West Lafayette (62,500) and Memorial Stadium in Bloomington (52,929) are the biggest possible venues in Indiana."
In honor of the end of The Game of Thrones.
That's it - they are moving the game to ND Stadium - 250 feet down the left field line, 50 foot tarp put up as a left field wall.... 470 into right center.
O'Malley did it in the late 50s for the Dodgers, surely Jack can pull this off too.
Y'all will bitch about anything man.
My recollection is that it started at 6 pm on a midweek (Tuesday?). Although there still were no lights, the game ended well before dark.
it will tick me off if it is soccer and they install a grass field which is almost certain to happen if it's a matchup of two of the European giants (Real, Barca, Juve, Man U, Liverpool, etc.). Those teams won't play on fake turf and the fact that we could install grass for them but not have it for the football team will be infuriating.
"It's terrible for the grass." Oh, wait . . .
The football season not so much.
My Indiana grass is looking good ... right now.
as Notre Dame Stadium does. They can grow grass on the roofs of the buildings surrounding the stadium, but inside? Not so much. Because of the weather.
That you can't play football on grass.
EPL teams have played many times on fake turf in the US during their summer pre-season tours.
They wouldn't be a big enough draw
by then.
I'm betting it will be Liverpool and hopefully NOT the Fire/Chicago, but maybe one of the other teams in the states for the International Champions Cup.
Liverpool would (rightly) refuse to play otherwise.
according to this article they just lay the sod right over the top of the artificial turf...I wondered if the artificial turf would have to come up but it doesn't.
