"He has never complained," Jerry Jones said. "He has never wavered, never missed a workout, and he's never quit. Not one time. He is admired by his teammates. He is admired by the people he competes against. His story is one that I would have done anything to be sure that it could be a Dallas Cowboys story."
He's a pretty mature guy:
“Allowing myself to understand my ego but not identify with it,” he said. “I can be aware we all have egos for better or for worse, but if you don’t identify with them, you’re really able to be present.”
I don't think either of them took metaphysics at tOSU or Miss. St.
It was pretty obvious from Day 1 at Notre Dame that Jaylon would be special. He was a joy to watch, and his injury was heartbreaking. Great to see him continue to be a true ND man in the pros. Wish he played for the Bears.
I just hate that it's Jerry Jones and the f'ing Cowboys.
inner being. But, Jones is not stingy with his money.
You play well and he will pay you top dollar.
I’m glad our guy got his deserved big pay day.
I would say Zach Martin is more likely than not and Q Nelson/Jaylon are possible given their trajectories.
Rudolph only has two Pro Bowl trips, so I would lean no on him. If he keeps pace on his touchdowns (41 currently) ) he could jump to third most TE TD catches before he is 35 (62).
Harrison Smith has 4 Pro Bowls, including one First Team All Pro selection and one Second team, and is only 30. Would say that he has a shot as well.
46 olineman total(modern era), so it is hard to get in as a lineman and doubly hard as a pure guard - 40% of the online positions but less then 20% of the lineman in the hall are guards. The last pure guard to get in retired in 1993 (Mike Munchak) and only guy since him was Larry Allen who played tackle for a large part of his career.
So unless they move outside, it's unlikely either, let alone both, Nelson or Martin get in.
He is basically the Will Shields of his time. I appreciate the research and it adds some context/makes me more doubtful on Nelson
As always, the guaranteed money is the key.
a bit strange, if not tacky
Recruits are
not only could have ended his dreams and talent of a dominating professional career, but might have made some visit the “dark “ area of the human mind. Depression. Good for him. Hopefully , he’ll have talented advisors financially going forward.

I think the OP's point wasn't so much that ND shouldn't celebrate it, but that the graphic being a giant $65,000,000 with floating hundred dollar bills was a bit unseemly. I tend to agree.
when they tweet stuff like that.
That is the sole purpose of the $65,000,000 graphic.
"Come to ND, where you won't learn any manners, but after which you could make lots of money if you have preexisting preternatural talent."
Where do I sign up?
scratched a million dollar lottery tix. I told my wife and children.
but . . . .
shit in a hat. No running back is worth more than $10 million in the NFL.
He's now in the top five highest paid LBs in the league. What a comeback. Happy for him. Per Adam Schefter:
"Jaylon Smith’s new deal with the Cowboys: 5 New Years, $65 million, including $35.5 guaranteed, per source. Gives Smith the 3rd-highest paid guarantee and makes him a top 5 linebacker with only 22 starts."
