Per the article: When Lou Holtz won a national title in his third year as head coach at ND, in 1988, Illinois was the dominant talent contributor.

I don't recall it that way:

Tony Rice - South Carolina
Anthony Johnson - South Bend
Rocket - Wilkes-Barre, PA
Ricky Waters - Harrisburg, PA
Frank Stams - Ohio
Todd Lyght - Florida ( I could be wrong on this one)

I know Chris Zorich was from Chicago, and I believe Stan Smagala was from the Chicago area, but that is hardly a team dominated by Chicago area players.

When I look at the star players on Holtz's teams, I see more Chicago area players than we have now, but I don't see teams that were dominated like we were the state university in Illinois.

When will ND and its mouthpieces stop with the excuses?
