I don’t know why Manchester by the Sea received hate below...it’s a fantastic movie.
I count 0 comedies, 1 action movie, 0 fantasy sci-fi but I could be wrong on that count.
I too enjoyed Manchester. Score one for brooding Uncles everywhere!
It's very well done but it's a pretty nasty doc.
Not getting into my own opinions, I'm surprised by how low Boyhood is, the inclusion of two Scorsese movies that are not The Irishman (which I haven't seen yet), and the exclusion of Zero Dark Thirty. Everything else is about what I'd expect.
And none of them were There Will Be Blood, which should be #1 on the list.
There Will Be Blood, No Country for Old Men, The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, Michael Clayton, Charlie Wilson's War, Into the Wild, Gone Baby Gone, Atonement, 3:10 to Yuma, American Gangster, Juno, The Kite Runner, and, of course, Transformers.
Fury Road (which is basically a mildly enhanced reboot of The Road Warrior) would have to be a thousand times crazier to be as shocking of a movie as The Road Warrior was when it came out. Hell, I think I even like Beyond Thunderdome better than Fury Road.
And "Manchester By The Sea" shouldn't be on anyone's list, ever. I'll admit it's a heartrending study of male grief...which means no one should have any interest in watching it.
I haven't watched "The Tree of Life" but am guessing I'd prefer just watching Malick's "The Thin Red Line" instead, anyway.
about 110% of the time (Red Wings omitted for various reasons).
Please don't hate me, but I chose to skip Manchester. Yes, my agreement is based on ignorance, however it's based more on trust.
I too skipped Tree of Life.
Inherent Vice is likely my #1 (but I admit it's not everyone's cup-o-soup).
Blade Runner 2049 is top 10 for me.
What We Do In The Shadows is probably #2.
The Lobster is probably top 10 for me (THR hates it).
Last, I am too tired to do any more work on this. Roger Ebert's dead. Those running his legacy seem like Jenkins/Swarb/BK.
is error.
Probably a top five film of the millennium so far.
the original, which I've seen three times, is completely overrated.
My film of the decade is Bohemian Rhapsody, which mainly illustrates how awful most critics are.
I had the same reactions to Tree of Life and Moonlight that you did. I'm surprised not to see Grand Budapest Hotel or Lady Bird on that list. Also surprised Social Network isn't higher. That's a movie that's really aged well.
Parasite is still in theaters and is definitely worth your time if you haven't seen it. Don't look up anything about it before going, it's more fun that way.
I know this was true at the time, but, despite theoretically being impossible, it's even more true now:
That movie was awesome.
Social Network should be higher.
Wolf of Wall Steet shouldnt be on the list
I think La La Land should be on there.
Moonlight was terrible. As was Shape of Water, which is unsurprisingly not on the list.....as it sucked.

I intend to see 22 (“Once Upon a Time ... in Hollywood”) and 15 (“Parasite”) in the next few weeks.
I didn't even like them all, and of the ones I haven't, most of them don't interest me.
I miss the real Roger Ebert.
I've yet to find a single reviewer I trust half as much as I trusted Roger.
15 I've never even heard of.
I really didn't like it. I'm not a big fan of sci fi type movies, though, so perhaps that was my issue.
I think it was the lack of Lord Humongous. Or even Master Blaster was more compelling than whatever was in that movie.
Special effects, cinematography, and acting we all top-notch.
is the only time in a theater I've noticed myself taking a deep breath after extended action.
