I’ve been to all 25 in the past two decades.
Your post reminded me to be grateful for not traveling for work as much as I used to. Thanks!
Mostly conference travel while in grad school or on vacations. I'm not sure how I spent 6 years at ND and managed to miss Midway, nor how I've lived on the eastern seaboard for about 20 years of my life and have never flown in/out/through Laguardia.
My three years working for NROTC took me all over.
The only one I've only hit once was for a conference in Boca Raton, and FLL was better than PBI.
Will be hitting PHX next year, though.
No to Lauderdale and I don't remember Philly. Boston was a long time ago.
Missed Houston-Bush (though I have flown to Hobby several times) and Dulles.
Missing LAX, Denver, Vegas, Miami, Seattle, Fort Lauderdale, and SLC.
The carpet at FLL is something special. Unless they have changed it recently, it has to be decades old and has a strong old South Florida vibe to it.
Not sure on LGA actually
V1 is our decision speed during the takeoff roll. Once we reach this speed we are continuing the takeoff even if we lose an engine.
To be fair though, I’ve felt the same at all three circus hellholes that constitute the NYC airport system.
Port Elizabeth that makes takeoff and landing at EWR so much fun?
I’m either a hero or have an excuse.
“You can’t win with winds calm on landing” - CAFB4ND
That's actually more than I thought I'd hit, I don't travel all that much.
Missing JFK, SFO (OAK on those trips), Houston, Newark, Detroit, Boston, Dulles, and SLC.
Essentially the corners of the country.
significantly fewer flights and time away. I miss the upgrades and boarding early in the cattle call that top level ff status gave me. But I happily gave that up.
Ive never had a reason to be in Houston, Charlotte, Minneapolis, Detroit, Philadelphia, Baltimore and Ft Lauderdale.
I can't think of any good reasons to spend money and go to these places either.
I've hit 22 or 23. I haven't been to Fort Lauderdale and Salt-Lake City. I'm not sure if I've been through all three of the NYC area airports.
I’ve never been to Salt Lake City and I’ve only driven or taken the train to Boston. My one flight there had to make an emergency landing.
been to Denver, but pre 1994 so I flew into Stapelton, not DIA.
...Recently flew into and out of ICT (Wichita) and got to admire the new terminal that opened in June 2015.
The Delta terminals at LGA are quite nice. Crowded, though.
I’m surprised Ft. Lauderdale is on the list; I assume due to cruise travel. Also surprised Philadelphia is so low. The merger must have hurt them badly.
It's the fastest way to get to South Bend.
and then some. On a long flight to Europe, I started listing out all the airports I've hit and the # went to 18 international and 42 domestic
though I am sure I am missing one or two.
At some point I've hit all of those except for Philly, but for the E. Coast airports it was a long time ago. I take Amtrak for all points between Boston and DC.
My main airports are LGA and JFK. For some of these I've merely transited through.
Lots of shithole airports on that list. I was surprised how bad Slat Lake City is. Miami Airport is a dump. Boston Logan is a dump. LAX is a dump. Dulles is surreal.
Detroit and Minneapolis (the new terminals) are great.
are the worst. Laguardia is just a dump and O'Hare is a nightmare if you are making a connection.
Although I visited SLC via car and really enjoyed it.
I've been to LAX a number of times in the past 10 years or so to drop off or pick up family members. The only building that I have been inside has been the International Terminal.
I haven't flown into or out of LAX since 1987, but my trips through the other 22 airports on that list have all been within the past 20 years.
[EDIT: This was meant to be a reply to Milhouse's post below]
Oh how I hate LAX.
Customs sucks. Baggage sucks. Transport sucks. Rental car support sucks. Security sucks. Food court sucks. Gate layout sucks.
Assuming you're heading to the West.
If so I've done all but Seattle and Miami, and I wouldn't even say I am a frequent flier. If layovers no good then miss a few more (Detroit and SLC for sure.)
Otherwise, I would be striking quite a few of them from my list as well.
I'd say my favorites are Denver, Minneapolis, and SLC.
I despise LGA, the shitty terminal in Newark, and LAX.
And after you have, you don’t want to anymore.
flight cancellations due to weather. If the Travellodge is still there avoid it like the plague, or like the bedbugs that are surely lurking in every corner.
